5th Annual Meeting of Young PianistsThe Meeting of Young Pianists, which takes the stages of the Historic Center of Havana for the fifth time and will take place between May 31 and June 7, will delight us with ten sessions of the most exquisite music for the piano.

More than a dozen Cuban and foreign performers, the latter, disciples of the great Cuban pedagogue Salomón Gadles Mikowsky, who is a founder and organizer of this event, will exchange their art with an audience in love with the instrument at the Martí Theater and the Ignacio Cervantes concert halls of the Antiguo Casino Español in Havana and the Basílica Menor del Convento de San Francisco de Asís.

Amongst the performances will be concerts for piano and orchestra number 1 in Fa # minor, opus 1 and number 2 in C minor, opus 18, by Serguei Rachmáninov performed by the Russian Alexandre Moutouzkine, on the opening day together with the National Symphony of Cuba.

We will also enjoy concerts for piano and orchestra number 1 in B flat major, opus 10, and number 3 in C major, opus 26, by Sergei Prokofiev with performances by Cuban laureate Aldo López-Gavilán Junco and young Chinese Wenqiao Jiang, respectively.

There will be a special moment with the presentation of the CD ‘Rusia ante la ritmíca cubana’, which includes the recital that Alexandre Moutouzkine performed in the Basíica last year, and that will register La Ceiba label of the City Historian Office in collaboration with Producciones Colibrí.

This record, which has been recorded live, is – in the opinion of Dr. Miriam Escudero, who is the director of the Esteban Salas Musical Heritage Cabinet-, "an anthology of contemporary Cuban music for the piano."

Instrumentalists from Bulgaria, China, France, Israel, Republic of Slovakia, Russia and Ukraine will share the scene together with the Cuban National Symphonic Orchestra and that the University of the Arts which is part of the Lyceum Mozartiano of Havana. The orchestras will be conducted by maestros Enrique Perez Mesa, José Antonio Méndez Padrón and Daiana García Silverio.
