Martí ´s presence at the children´s workshop La Edad de OroCuban visual artist Crispín Sarrá, a naive painter, begins 2018 with several interesting offers dedicated to the Cuban National Hero on the 165th anniversary of his birth.

At the head of his children's workshop, La Edad de Oro, he has created an agenda that prioritizes the themes dedicated to the Maestro. One of the most relevant actions comes from the José Martí National Library, an institution that will bring to light a book composed of 25 literary texts and numerous images about the life and work of the most famous Cuban.

From the illustrations of the volume entitled ‘Para un Amigo Sincero’, eight works made by the children of the Crispinian troop were chosen to illuminate their pages, on the occasion of the award that the workshop received in the last summer event ‘Arte en La Rampa’. The little creators selected are Adriano García Castilla and Manuel Alejandro Leal González, 6 years old; Andy Daniel Vázquez Cruz, Marina Hernández Holl, and Daniel González Hernández, 7 years old; Guido Aramís Deas Pérez, 9 years old; Ana Karla Paredes Marín, 10 years old; and Roberto Campos Verdecia, 14 years old.

On the other hand, this January 28, a presentation was made at the National Masonic Lodge with the presence of La Colmenita and singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez. The Edad de Oro Workshop exhibited his paintings and also worked during the activity to show his art to those present.

Crispín Sarrá has a degree in Art History from the University of Havana and every Saturday he brings together, in his small house, a group of little painters who recreate the subjects and techniques taught by his professor.

The Edad de Oro workshop has already more than ten years of intense work, whose work has been used as an illustration of books of different contents and has been seen in countries such as Latin America, France and Spain. Many of its graduates are already young people who are on their way to be professionals of art and audiovisual media, such as Adriano Toledo Martínez, who is a winner at 17 years of several prizes of visual arts and photography, and nominated for the Lucas awards in this edition for his artistic direction.
