Several works from five publishing houses of the Hermanos Saíz Association’s system are available at the Cuban Pavilion; a venue where young people can attend and enjoy of cultural activities, which is located on the corner of 23rd and N streets, in Vedado neighbourhood. But, the one which stands out the most is the anthology: ‘‘La calle de Rimbaud. Nuevos poetas cubanos’’, and which is labelled by Matanzas Aldabón publishing house.
With the selection of writers René Coyra and Israel Domínguez, a total of 58 poets, who were born in Cuba after the year 1978, are included on this compilation, who start to be known at the beginning of the 21st century, and who have, for their outstanding work, important national and international awards.
We can also mention, for instance, the poet and storyteller, born in the city of Camaguey, Legna Rodríguez; the also Santiago editor Oscar Cruz; Sergio García Zamora, one of the important figures of the world of the letters in the area of Ranchuelo; Yunier Riquenes, radio writer from Jiguaní, Granma; the Holguín storyteller and essayist Jamila Medina; Pinar del Río arts graduate Yanelis Encinosa; Czecholosvakian writer and now resident in Cuba, Karel Bofill; History graduate from the Cuban province of Holguín, Moisés Mayán, among others.
The book includes 14 printed illustrations on craft paper, all of them with the signature of painter Yampier Báez Matos, who has also illustrated other books, magazines, and articles such as ‘‘Mapas del Hijo pródigo; ‘‘Extinciones; and ‘‘La Hija del tabernero’’, as well as ‘‘Matanzas magazines’’, ‘‘La Aurora’’, ‘‘La letra del Escriba’’, ‘‘La Isla Infinita’’ and ‘‘Revolución y Cultura’’.
Coyra, who is also main editor of Aldabón, has also said, in several opportunities, that the works included in the title ‘‘La Calle de Rimbaud Nuevos poetas cubanos’’ aim to be inserted in a tradition, which is followed by many of the Cuban poetic promotions.
Without doubts, the goal has been reached, so it is a valuable treasure which is at the hands of eager readers, who during these days visit the Literary Novelty Hall of Cuba Pavilion, which is located in the heart of Vedado neighbourhood.
