The Jazz Wise magazine, one of the most important magazines dedicated to the genre in the United Kingdom, stressed the musical quality of the Faílde Orchestra, a group that defends the danzón, which has become the national rhythm and dance of Cuba.
In a review, the publication highlighted the sound freshness of the band founded by flutist Ethiel Faílde, who revitalized a century of Cuban music and honored its musical legacy with the album Faílde con Tumbao.
According to the specialized media, the record produced by the Cuban label Egrem, is a magnificent recording tinged with sepia and contemporary airs, which firmly positions the Danzón orchestra with a gift for playing related styles such as bolero, son, mambo, and cha cha cha.
He also described it as a reminder of the musical treasure chest that is Cuba and applauded the inclusion of renowned artists from the nation such as iconic vocalist Omara Portuondo, pianist Alejandro Falcón, trumpet player Julio Padrón and Puerto Rican singer Andy Montañez.
He also referred to the emergence of the sonority created by Cuban musician and composer Miguel Faílde and his first danzón, Las Alturas de Simpson, which showcases the strong Spanish and African heritage.
To make it even more attractive, the Cuban group is promoting the cartoon video clip that accompanies their third album, which features the unreleased work Nievecita by Miguel Faílde and includes musical arrangements by Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Yosvany Terry, and José Antonio González.
