Through its virtual platform on Facebook, the Planetarium of Havana will available on #RyAEspeciales on Thursdays in July and August, as part of the virtual embrace that Rutas y Andares is extending this summer to its followers, because of the need for social distancing due to COVID-19.

The cultural center designed the Special Route Cosmic Passage, which investigates topics such as the origin of the universe, the formation of the first cosmic structures, galaxies, stars, extrasolar planets, the solar system, and the origin of life. The meetings will be accompanied by impressive images of the universe and music, created by Professor Daniel Stolic.

Participants will be able to interact every Thursday with an online astronomer, who will answer their questions. They will be Dr. Isabel Tatiana Rodriguez Esnard and the Master of Science Francisco Gonzalez Veitía.

In addition, the Planetarium will hold the virtual workshop Aprender jugando, aimed at children and their families, #RyATalleres, to undertake the adventure of knowledge together with the participants and to demonstrate that science can be a lot of fun.

Those interested will receive instructions for the experiments every Tuesday by email: planetario@patrimonio.ohc.cu or via WhatsApp. They should document their experience through photographs, drawings or short videos, which will be sent by this means. The best results will be shared on the institution's Facebook profile.

The Planetarium of the Historical Center, located on Mercaderes entre Muralla y Teniente Rey, in Old Havana, was inaugurated on December 21, 2009. This cultural institution emerges as a space for science and technology, which favors an approach to the origins of the universe and invites to a journey through the sidereal space by means of educational and recreational actions, conceived for diverse publics.
