The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) on Tuesday reported 44 new Covid-19 patients in past 24 hours, which brings the total Covid-19 case toll to 3,408.
In the usual press briefing, Dr. Francisco Duran, National Director of Epidemiology, detailed that 524 patients remain admitted to hospitals (the so-called active ones), 516 of them are in stable clinical progress, five in serious conditions and three critically-ill.
'This toll of active cases is pretty high, but lower than in recent days,' Dr. Duran said.
On Monday, there was no death from the SARS-CoV-2 virus, so the overall death toll remains at 88 for the second consecutive week.
Of the newly diagnosed patients, 21 are women and 23 men, all Cubans, 40 of them are contacts of previously diagnosed case, and the source of infection is being investigated in four, Dr. Duran explained.
Dr. Duran added that 22 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis.
On Monday, 4.294 diagnostic tests were carried out nationwide, which brings to 336,333 the total of tests taken since the first cases were known in this country, on March 11.
