On the occasion of the commemoration of the 126th anniversary of the resumption of the struggle against Spanish colonialism in Cuba, the Centro de Estudios Martianos (CEM) commemorates the significant date of 24 February 1895 with the publication of relevant research, reflections, analyses and essays on this uprising known as the Grito de Baire, in the Dossier “24 de febrero”, on the José Martí Portal (www.josemarti.cu).
The approach to this deed, which was conceived by the Apostle of Cuba, José Martí, as a necessary war to conquer independence, constitutes a great opportunity to gauge the political genius and capacity of this universal Cuban to organize the Necessary War, and the transcendence of the conflict in the history of the homeland and Cuban culture.
Similarly, CEM's social media accounts share audiovisual materials that provide different readings of the event that reopened the path initiated in 1868 and that, although it did not culminate in true independence due to the intervention of the United States, it did demonstrate that the Master's foresight and ideas were valid for Cuba and the rest of Latin America.
To facilitate access to its contents, the CEM has made them available to those interested in physical locations such as the network of specialized libraries and the Ismaelillo bookshop, as well as in various virtual spaces such as the QR codes of the José Martí Portal, the YouTube channel and its accounts on other social media.
