Santiago de Cuba, (PL).- The fourth edition of a contest dedicated to soap opera pioneer in Cuba, Felix B. Caignet, concluded in this city favoured by the provincial branch of the Cuban Union of Writers and Artists (UNEAC).

Forty-four radio works and 27 audiovisuals were evaluated by a jury, with samples from the whole island, trying to opt for different awards in specialties and the respective Grand Prix awards in radio and television.

Homages to renowned musician from Santiago de Cuba, Enrique Bonne in his 86th birthday and to the nine decades of Cuban radio are part of the program, as well as theoretical debates about the musical programming in radio and TV.

That analysis included ideas related with music�s drama conception in radio programs and of the soundtrack in television programs.

The contest contributes to a bigger knowledge of the life and work of Caignet.

National Literature Award Reinaldo Gonzalez considered Caignet "the most human of authors", in a book that Gonzalez dedicated to Caignet�s life. Born in 1892 in the municipality of San Luis, Caignet inaugurated a new era in dramatized spaces in the Cuban radio with his soap opera El Derecho de Nacer (The Right to Be Born).

Some time later, works like the one he presented, earned their own space in the small screen and filled the homes of the most diverse latitudes with full validity.
