The clarinet symbolizes romanticism, dexterity, and communication, as its soft and soothing sounds, even the loudest and most aggressive, reflect human passions in all their splendor.
The Lyceum Mozartiano de La Habana is currently devoting several performances on its YouTube channel to this unique instrument, bringing together young instrumentalists and renowned maestros of the current Cuban music scene.
From Saturday 24 July, as part of the seventh annual edition of the Fiesta de los Clarinetes, the fourth part of this series dedicated to the event is available to the public, in which the works Larguetto, by Pierre Gabaye, is performed by clarinetist Héctor Herrera; Guisganderie, by Faustin & Maurice Jeanjean and Lester Chio; and Andante and Scherzo, by Paul Pierne, Maria Laura Terry; all accompanied by maestro Marita Rodríguez.
Meanwhile, on Thursday 29 July, the Quintet with Clarinet Kv. 581, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, will be performed by the young violinists Anabel Estévez and Camila Martel, the violist Lisbet Sevila, the cellist Mara Mercedes Navas and the clarinetist Laura Ortega.
While on Saturday 31 July, the fifth part of the Clarinet Festival, on the Lyceum's YouTube channel, offers Peregi Verbunk, by Leo Weiner, Danielys Castillo and Marita Rodríguez; Homage to Bach, Bela Kovacks, Sabrina del Riego and Marita Rodríguez, and Solo de Concierto, by André Messager, Carelys Carrera and Marita Rodríguez.
Previously, this digital space offered the first part of the Clarinet Festival which included the Adagio from the Sonata No. 1 opus 120, by Johannes Brahms, by Antonio Dorta and Marita Rodríguez, Manteca by Dizzi Gillespie and Chano Pozo, in the performance of the Cuban Clarinet Quartet and Vista sobre los Pirineos, by Javier Zalba, performed by the EnClave Quartet and maestro Javier Zalba.
In the second part of the meeting of clarinetists, the pieces A Farewell Mambo, by Paquito D' Rivera, was performed by the Cuarteto Ébanos de La Habana; and Contradanza, by Paquito D' Rivera (version by Alejandro Calzadilla), by the Coro de Clarinetes.
The third part of this event included Trio by Heitor Villa-Lobos; Cinq Piéces in Trio by Jacques Ibert; Sexteh opus 45 by Luigi Boucherini; 5 Miniaturen Für Drei HolzBlaser by L. Sima and Los muñecos by Ignacio Cervantes, and the Trio Tre Colore.
