The Suriname Embassy will donate in an official act, a piece by the famous Surinamese painter Erwin De Vries next March 1 at 10am at the Universal Hall at the National Fine Arts Museum.

Erwin Jules De Vries was born on December 21, 1929 and he graduated at the Amsterdam National Academy as a painter and a sculptor; his valuable pieces have been exhibited in Europe and America. The multi prize-winning artist is considered the Picasso of the Caribbean.

Oda al Cuerpo Femenino (Ode to Female Nude)is the title of the work. It is a 1.03 cm height x 0.38 cm width, made with acrylic paint on canvas in 2012.

This artist has painted and sculptured hundreds of nudes and he has also made portraits of several famous and unknown people along his 60-year career, but the female body in an abstract-figurative speech, is the most impressive expression of all his work.
