It was created as a tribute to Maestro Ernesto Lecuona. The show was choreographed by Alberto M\u00e9ndez, with music by Ernesto Lecuona. The set and costumes were designed by Salvador Fern\u00e1ndez, according to Mauricio Abreu, director of press and public relations for the prestigious National Cultural Heritage Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"692\" src=\"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ballet-canto-vital-1024x692.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1784\" style=\"width:826px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ballet-canto-vital-1024x692.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ballet-canto-vital-300x203.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ballet-canto-vital-768x519.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ballet-canto-vital.jpeg 1327w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ballet Canto vital<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another emblematic work of the BNC is <strong>Canto vital<\/strong> by Azari Plisetski, music by Gustav Mahler, costumes by Salvador Fern\u00e1ndez, a male \u00abpas de quatre\u00bb that explores the many expressions of male dance. This ballet, together with <strong>Tarde en la siesta<\/strong>, coincides with this year&#8217;s celebration of its premiere five decades ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also includes the pieces <strong>Muto<\/strong>, choreographed by Alberto M\u00e9ndez with music by Edvard Grieg, and <strong>Alfonsina<\/strong>, choreographed by Gustavo Herrera with music by Julio Bueno and Fernando Condon, based on the play <strong>Alfonsina y el mar<\/strong> by Ariel Ram\u00edrez, with sets by Salvador Fern\u00e1ndez. This ballet is a tribute to the Argentinean poetess Alfonsina Storni (1892-1938), who was famous for her amorous lyricism and her profound feminine sensibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"716\" src=\"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ensayo-bnc-1024x716.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1788\" style=\"width:813px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ensayo-bnc-1024x716.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ensayo-bnc-300x210.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ensayo-bnc-768x537.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/ensayo-bnc.jpeg 1292w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This programme includes one of the most famous solos in dance history: <strong>The Death of the Swan<\/strong>, choreography by Mikhail Fokine and music by Camille Saint-Sa\u00ebns; together with scenes from the beloved ballet <strong>The Nutcracker<\/strong>, choreography by Alicia Alonso, based on the original by Lev Ivanov; music by Pyotr Ilich Tchaikovsky; with libretto based on the original by Marius Petipa, based on the free version by Alexandre Dumas of the story <strong>The Nutcracker and the Mouse King<\/strong> by E.T.A. Hoffmann; designs by Guido Fiorato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main roles will be played by Viengsay Vald\u00e9s, Anette Delgado, Sadaise Arencibia, Grettel Morej\u00f3n, Dani Hern\u00e1ndez, Mar\u00eda Luisa M\u00e1rquez, \u00c1nyelo Montero, supported by soloists and the BNC corps de ballet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of these performances, the exhibition <strong>&#8216;Homenaje&#8217;<\/strong> will be inaugurated in the temporary hall of the Centre for Strategic Management of Local Development (GEDEL), with works by several photographers from different generations who have worked with the company over the last 75 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photographs by Maykel Espinosa, taken during the rehearsal at the company&#8217;s headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
