Anthropology on Saturday, January 6th. The workshop is dedicated to the thirtieth anniversary of the UNESCO project \u00abThe Routes of Enslaved People: Resistance, Freedom and Heritage\u00bb, of which Cuba is a founding member. This edition of the workshop will be held both in person and online, including lectures, master classes, round tables, panels, exhibitions, thematic visits, and the exhibition of research projects by institutions and experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop will cover a variety of topics such as processes of resistance and abandonment, culture, identity, and otherness, cultural resistance and contemporary creativity, aspects of popular religions and brotherhoods of African origin, the role of the museum in preserving cultural heritage, visual anthropology, and migratory flows and globalization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to the workshop, the traditional Afro-Cuban Epiphany Cabildo<\/strong> will take place on the same day, and an artistic gala for the 37th anniversary of the Casa de \u00c1frica Museum will be held in the Amphitheatre of the Historic Centre. The gala features the National Folklore Ensemble and the JJ Company, under the artistic direction of Johannes Garc\u00eda, National Dance Prize 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 28th Scientific Workshop on Social Anthropology and Afro-American Culture<\/strong> is organized by Casa de \u00c1frica in collaboration with the Castillo de San Severino Museum in Matanzas, the Quisicuaba Community Socio-Cultural Project, and the Cuban Institute of Anthropology (ICAN).
