{"id":2377,"date":"2024-03-12T08:12:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T12:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/?p=2377"},"modified":"2024-03-11T21:20:53","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T01:20:53","slug":"the-19th-musicology-prize-and-book-fair-to-commence-in-the-second-week-of-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/the-19th-musicology-prize-and-book-fair-to-commence-in-the-second-week-of-march-12032024\/","title":{"rendered":"The 19th Musicology Prize and Book Fair to commence in the second week of March"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 19th edition of the Casa de las Am\u00e9ricas Musicology Prize and the 13th International Colloquium on the subject, along with the Central Provinces Book Fair, take center stage in Cuba&#8217;s cultural life this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting this Monday, the prestigious awards ceremony began, which has a jury made up of distinguished researchers Natalia Bieletto (Mexico), Omar Morales (Guatemala) and Mar\u00eda Elena Vinueza (Ecuador-Cuba).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These figures in Hispano-American musicology will present their judgments next Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will host the 3rd Symposium of the ICTMD LAT CAR Study Group, focusing on Knowledge, Sounds, and Movements as Resistance and Perseverance in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the 3rd International Workshop on the Historical-Documentary Heritage of Music in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday, the Che Guevara Hall will host the concert <strong>El caminante en Casa<\/strong> with Manuel Garc\u00eda, paying tribute to Hayd\u00e9e Santamar\u00eda, founder of the Casa de las Am\u00e9ricas, an institution celebrating its 65th anniversary in April.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/feria-libro.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/feria-libro.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/feria-libro-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>On the literary front, from March 13 to 17, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Sancti Sp\u00edritus, Camag\u00fcey, and Ciego de \u00c1vila will hold book fairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first of these provinces, Vidal Park will be the venue for the Literary Festival, dedicated to the life and work of the philologist, playwright, and literary critic Carmen Beatriz Sotolongo Vali\u00f1o, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the El Mejunje Cultural Centre, three decades of Sed de Belleza Ediciones, and the 120th anniversary of the birth of Alejo Carpentier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Camag\u00fcey will showcase approximately 200 titles to the public, with the Casino Campestre serving as the primary venue for this literary event. The edition will be dedicated to the renowned writers Sergio Morales and Juan Antonio Garc\u00eda Borrero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Camag\u00fcey edition will feature a theoretical program at the La Comarca Literary Caf\u00e9, comprising panels, book launches, conferences, and discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
