The event is set to take place this Wednesday, April 17th, at 3 p.m. at the Fayad Jam\u00eds Bookstore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considered one of the most influential voices in Cuban science fiction and fantasy literature, Yoss graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Havana in 1991. He also completed the first course at the Onelio Jorge Cardoso Literary Training Center in 1999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yoss boasts an extensive bibliography, including titles such as \u00abTimshel,\u00bb winner of the David Prize in 1988; \u00abW,\u00bb recipient of the Pinos Nuevos Prize in 1995; \u00abLos pecios y los n\u00e1ufragos,\u00bb awarded the Luis Rogelio Nogueras Prize in 1998; \u00abXXXXX\u2026L,\u00bb winner of the Carlos III University Prize in Madrid in 2002, and \u00abPrecio justo,\u00bb recipient of the Calendario Prize in 2004.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His narratives have been featured in anthologies and periodicals in Switzerland, Colombia, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Greece, the United States, and Cuba, among other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Born in Havana in 1969, Yoss has received numerous awards, including the Ernest Hemingway Prize in 1993, the Love Story Prize in Las Tunas in 1998, the Humorous Text Aquelarre Prize in 2001, the Erotic Story Farraluque Prize in 2002, the Domingo Santos Prize for Science Fiction Short Story in 2005 (Spain), third place in the Casa de Teatro Short Story Contest in 2006 (Dominican Republic), second place in the Alberto Magno Science Fiction Short Story Contest in 2008 (Spain), and the UPC Science Fiction Prize in 2010 (Spain).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is the founder of the science fiction literary workshops Espiral and Espacio Abierto and has been a member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba since 1994.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During this event, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase the book \u00abOtras tierras, otros soles.
