The performance is entitled \u00ab<strong>PARSAX por dos razones<\/strong>\u00ab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first is that it will be the first performance in Cuba of a piece of the same name by the Spanish composer Ferrer Ferran. The second reason, as stated in the press release from the National Center for Concert Music, is that the majority of the program consists of pieces composed for two saxophones and piano, a novel addition considering the instrument&#8217;s usual repertoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The invitation is completed by \u00ab<strong>Duo Concertante<\/strong>\u00ab, opus 55 by Jean Baptiste Sigel\u00e9e, the first work written for this format in 1858, of which the second and third movements will also be premiered in Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will be followed by the young saxophonist and composer Celyn Santana&#8217;s \u00ab<strong>Historias de un soldado<\/strong>\u00bb (a composition that received the 2019 Composition Prize of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, UNEAC); \u00ab<strong>Peque\u00f1a Czarda<\/strong>\u00bb by Pedro Iturralde; and two pieces by Cuban composer Jorge L\u00f3pez Mar\u00edn, who celebrates his 75th birthday this year. From the latter, the world premiere of \u00ab<strong>Little Lulu homage<\/strong>\u00bb will be performed, along with the first performance of \u00ab<strong>Sweet Cecimar<\/strong>\u00bb in the version conceived for alto saxophone, bassoon and piano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maestros Ana Josefa Pichardo Milord on bassoon and Jorge Sergio Ram\u00edrez on saxophone will be among the guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
