They will share memories of the life and work of Bol\u00edvar Ar\u00f3stegui, who was also a researcher and painter.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to recordings of Natalia Bol\u00edvar Ar\u00f3stegui&#8217;s voice from the tribute organized at the Fayad Jam\u00eds Bookstore on the occasion of her 85th birthday, as well as enjoy performances by the vocal group Daisy Brau and Oba-Ar\u00e9anle.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Havana in 1934 and passing away in the same city in 2023, Natalia Bol\u00edvar Ar\u00f3stegui was an active fighter against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.<\/p>\n<p>A disciple of Lydia Cabrera, she dedicated decades to the study of anthropology, a field that allowed her to publish numerous articles and essays and deliver lectures in various countries around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Her extensive bibliography includes books such as <strong>Los orishas en Cuba<\/strong>, <strong>Ta Makuende Yaya y las Reglas de Palo Monte<\/strong>, <strong>La muerte es principio no fin<\/strong>, <strong>Mitos y leyendas de la comida afrocubana<\/strong>, <strong>Quint\u00edn Banderas<\/strong>, <strong>Lydia Cabrera en su laguna sagrada<\/strong>, <strong>Nkor\u00ed. Vocablos africanos en la m\u00fasica cubana<\/strong>, and <strong>La sabidur\u00eda de los or\u00e1culos. If\u00e1, los caracoles y el coco<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>El elogio oportuno\u2014which aims to honor writers, books, historical events, and institutions celebrating significant anniversaries\u2014takes its name from the Marti aphorism: \u00abtimely praise fosters merit; and the lack of timely praise discourages it,\u00bb which appeared in the pages of the newspaper <strong>Patria<\/strong> in April 1892.<\/p>\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
