With a grand concert at the Sal\u00f3n Rosado Benny Mor\u00e9 in the La Tropical, Havana, on Thursday, September 19, the legendary Orquesta Arag\u00f3n will kick off its celebrations for 85 years since its founding.<\/p>\n

Invited by the sociocultural project \u00abHoy como ayer,\u00bb the Charanga Eterna, along with the Conjunto de Arsenio Rodr\u00edguez, will present a special performance starting at 6:00 p.m. to an audience primarily composed of senior citizens who frequent this ARTex venue.<\/p>\n

During a press conference at the Cuban Institute of Music, details of their upcoming performances were shared as part of the 85th birthday celebrations, which will take place on September 30.<\/p>\n

Colombia will again welcome the Arag\u00f3n, with seven concerts planned, including one with the Medell\u00edn Symphony Orchestra, featuring arrangements by Cuban maestros Joaqu\u00edn Betancourt and Roberto Valera.<\/p>\n

In November, as part of the extensive programming for the 505th<\/sup> anniversary of San Crist\u00f3bal de La Habana, the Arag\u00f3n will return to the famous corner of Prado and Neptuno for a highly anticipated concert for dance enthusiasts.<\/p>\n

From December 1 to 6, the group led by maestro Rafael Lay Bravo for over 40 years will return to Cienfuegos, where it was originally founded by Oreste Arag\u00f3n and later directed by maestro Rafael Lay Apestegu\u00eda.<\/p>\n

During these performances, the orchestra will promote its latest album \u00ab85 a\u00f1os de la Orquesta Arag\u00f3n<\/strong>,\u00bb recorded in Colombia this year, featuring nine renewed pieces selected from its extensive catalog. These include \u00abMi bajo con tumbao,\u00bb \u00abPreg\u00fantame c\u00f3mo estoy,\u00bb \u00abRendez Vous Chez Fatimata,\u00bb a bolero mix including the classic \u00abCanta coraz\u00f3n\u00bb immortalized by Pepe Olmo, and a piece by the late maestro Adalberto \u00c1lvarez titled \u00abCon un besito mi amor.\u00bb<\/p>\n

The Charanga Eterna maintains its characteristic style and presence of multiple generations. Maestro Rafael Lay Bravo highlighted three young instrumentalists\u2014a flutist, a singer, and a tumbador\u2014working in harmony with more experienced members.<\/p>\n

Other cultural institutions will pay tribute to Orquesta Arag\u00f3n; the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba will dedicate events during the Danz\u00f3n Habana Festival, and the National Concert Music Center, along with concert bands across the country, will perform pieces from the group’s repertoire during the last weekend of September in honor of its 85th anniversary.<\/p>\n
