{"id":3986,"date":"2025-04-24T08:14:20","date_gmt":"2025-04-24T12:14:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/?p=3986"},"modified":"2025-04-23T18:15:11","modified_gmt":"2025-04-23T22:15:11","slug":"alejandro-falcon-concert-celebrates-international-jazz-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/alejandro-falcon-concert-celebrates-international-jazz-day-24042025\/","title":{"rendered":"Alejandro Falc\u00f3n Concert Celebrates International Jazz Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Renowned pianist and composer Alejandro Falc\u00f3n, along with his ensemble Cubadentro, will headline a concert to celebrate <strong>International Jazz Day<\/strong> in Cuba.<\/p>\n<p>The performance is scheduled for Friday, April 25, at La P\u00e9rgola in Havana\u2019s Pabell\u00f3n Cuba, starting at 4:00 p.m. The lineup includes Falc\u00f3n on piano, Ruy L\u00f3pez-Nussa on drums, Arnulfo Guerra on bass, and Jos\u00e9 Juli\u00e1n Morej\u00f3n on congas.<\/p>\n<p>Special guest appearances will feature saxophonist Javier Zalba, vocalist Any Perey\u00f3, and trumpeter Robertico Garc\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Cuba&#8217;s celebrations will continue until April 30, <strong>International Jazz Day<\/strong>, and will offer a rich program of concerts, exhibitions, and tributes. Highlights include a medal ceremony honoring legendary figures of Cuban jazz, a photography exhibit by Lilien Trujillo, and live performances by Bobby Carcass\u00e9s &amp; Afro Jazz, as well as pianists Ern\u00e1n L\u00f3pez-Nussa and Roberto Fonseca.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has been designated as the global host city for International Jazz Day 2025. Approximately 190 countries are expected to participate in the celebrations, which are promoted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz.<\/p>\n<p>Established by UNESCO in November 2011, <strong>International Jazz Day<\/strong> is celebrated annually on April 30. The day aims to raise awareness of jazz as a powerful educational tool and a catalyst for peace, unity, dialogue, and enhanced cooperation among peoples worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
