A special performance is scheduled for April 29\u2014International Dance Day\u2014in Santa Clara\u2019s Leoncio Vidal Park, featuring an excerpt from the celebrated work, according to Digna Rosa P\u00e9rez Morej\u00f3n, the ensemble\u2019s public relations officer.<\/p>\n<p>Under the artistic direction of young dancer and choreographer Leiv\u00e1n Garc\u00eda Valle, each stop on the tour includes theoretical and practical exchanges with local dance groups that are deeply committed to preserving traditional and popular culture. These sessions also involve teachers and students from the national arts education system.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Comunidad<\/em><\/strong>\u2014winner of the Milan\u00e9s Prize from the Hermanos Sa\u00edz Association and the Villanueva Critics\u2019 Award from the Cuban Writers and Artists Union\u2014is an original choreographic piece by Garc\u00eda Valle, inspired by <strong><em>Demonios sobre c\u00e9sped cortado<\/em><\/strong>, a book by young author Daym\u00ed Di\u00e9guez.<\/p>\n<p>A standout feature of the production is its music, composed by renowned Cuban pianist Alejandro Falc\u00f3n. Falc\u00f3n also performed during the piece\u2019s premiere last May at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater of Cuba, alongside the National Choir of Cuba and the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Comunidad<\/em><\/strong> also pays tribute to the <strong><em>Congo Cycle<\/em><\/strong>, a foundational influence skillfully championed by the Ensemble in its early years during the 1960s.<\/p>\n<p>Its debut was particularly moving, fostering an intergenerational dialogue with legendary figures from Cuban culture\u2014many of whom have been closely connected to the company since its inception\u2014including National Dance Prize laureates Alfredo O\u2019Farrill and Johannes Garc\u00eda, master Domingo Pau, and celebrated singer \u201cPeky P\u00e9rez,\u201d lead vocalist of the JJ Traditional Dance Company.<\/p>\n<p>Although these esteemed guests will not join the touring cast, their presence will be felt in every performance.<\/p>\n<p>With this tour, the company embarks on a new chapter\u2014one that renews its ties with audiences, institutions, and fellow artists across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
