The concert is part of the <em>Europe Month in Cuba<\/em> cultural event.<\/p>\n<p>Titled <em><strong>Hatzid\u00e1kis: 100 a\u00f1os<\/strong><\/em>, the concert is curated and artistically directed by Helson Hern\u00e1ndez. Among the featured pieces is <em><strong>La sonrisa de Gioconda<\/strong><\/em>, one of Hatzid\u00e1kis\u2019s most iconic works and the title track of one of his best-known albums\u2014widely considered a 20th-century classic in Greek music, according to the official press release.<\/p>\n<p>The program, a tribute to the life and legacy of Hatzid\u00e1kis\u2014who was also a poet and acclaimed film composer\u2014will include works for piano, string quartet, and guitar. It will also feature two songs performed in the original Greek by soprano Cristina Rodr\u00edguez and debut tenor Jorge Guerra. Also participating in the performance are violinist Elizabeth Yod\u00fa, who leads the string quartet, pianists Vilma Garriga and Rosa Garc\u00eda Oropesa, and acclaimed guitarist Mabel Gonz\u00e1lez.<\/p>\n<p>Born in 1925, Hatzid\u00e1kis drew deeply from Greek musical traditions to shape his compositions. He wrote extensively for film\u2014most notably <em><strong>Nunca en domingo<\/strong><\/em>, for which he won an Academy Award in 1960 and which will be included in the program\u2014as well as for ballets choreographed by the celebrated French artist Maurice B\u00e9jart. His legacy encompasses a wide and influential discography that continues to resonate today.<\/p>\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
