The gathering will take place at the Malecón Art 255 building and promises a joyful morning of dance, set to the rhythms of Cuban and international music.

Bailar no tiene edad celebrates the transformative power of the arts—and dance in particular—as a bridge between generations and as a force that defies age boundaries. This marks the end of the current season, with the project set to return in October, when cooler weather encourages renewed participation in this vibrant intergenerational celebration.

Through this initiative, Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba once again reaffirms its commitment to inclusivity and the well-being of all age groups, especially older adults—an often-overlooked population to whom society owes much.

The project was inspired by the art exhibit Abuelas y Abuelos Prestados by Cuban artist Moník Molinet. The company participated in the exhibit’s opening and closing events, with Malecón Art 255 serving as the venue during the 15th Havana Biennial. The exhibition sought to amplify the visibility of older adults and foster empathy toward them—an intention that gave rise to this celebratory dance initiative dedicated to family, the healing power of the arts, and the joy of movement.

Style, genre, rhythm, and age don’t matter here—only good energy counts. The event is free and open to the public, but participants are encouraged to bring a personal water bottle and wear comfortable clothing. From cha-cha-cha, mambo, rumba, salsa, and urban dance to waltz and merengue, there will be something for everyone to enjoy, learn, laugh, and connect through dance.

Source: Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba on Facebook.

Translated by Luis E.
