{"id":4117,"date":"2025-06-03T13:24:04","date_gmt":"2025-06-03T17:24:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/?p=4117"},"modified":"2025-06-03T13:24:04","modified_gmt":"2025-06-03T17:24:04","slug":"diverse-program-marks-cuban-librarians-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/diverse-program-marks-cuban-librarians-day-03062025\/","title":{"rendered":"Diverse Program Marks Cuban Librarian\u2019s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Rub\u00e9n Mart\u00ednez Villena Public Library, located in Old Havana\u2019s Historic Center, launched a broad program of activities this Monday to celebrate <strong>Cuban Librarian\u2019s Day<\/strong>, culminating on June 10.<\/p>\n<p>The week-long celebration includes bibliographic exhibitions and a series of cultural events under the banner of the Cuban Librarian\u2019s Day Program.<\/p>\n<p>Among the scheduled highlights is the awards ceremony for the \u201cProtecting the Environment\u201d contest, along with other initiatives aimed at engaging the public, according to Ana Mar\u00eda S\u00e1nchez Rodr\u00edguez, a specialist in cultural programming at the institution.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the week, the library will host newly graduated librarians as well as seasoned professionals recognized with the Antonio Bachiller y Morales Seal of Merit. These honorees will be interviewed as part of an effort to document and share their professional journeys.<\/p>\n<p>Several exhibitions will be on display, spotlighting prominent librarians in various fields of literature. On June 7, Cuban Librarian\u2019s Day, the Literature Room will showcase works by renowned authors who also practiced librarianship, including Jorge Luis Borges, Stephen King, Rub\u00e9n Dar\u00edo, and Marcel Proust.<\/p>\n<p>Toward the end of the week, the Rare and Valuable Collections Room will present a special bibliographic exhibit titled <em>Antonio Bachiller y Morales: One of Cuba\u2019s Most Illustrious Intellectuals<\/em>, featuring works by the distinguished Cuban thinker.<\/p>\n<p>In the Reference Section, visitors can explore the exhibit\u00a0<em>\u00abLa Villena y sus bibliotecarios<\/em>,\u00bb\u00a0which includes documents, photographs, and images chronicling the work of library specialists who have been awarded the Antonio Bachiller y Morales Seal.
