{"id":4208,"date":"2025-07-21T07:56:58","date_gmt":"2025-07-21T11:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/?p=4208"},"modified":"2025-07-15T19:59:49","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T23:59:49","slug":"collage-habana-gallery-presents-yo-fui-mi-peor-abismo-by-jesus-lara-sotelo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/collage-habana-gallery-presents-yo-fui-mi-peor-abismo-by-jesus-lara-sotelo-21072025\/","title":{"rendered":"Collage Habana Gallery Presents Yo fui mi peor abismo by Jes\u00fas Lara Sotelo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Collage Habana Gallery is currently hosting <em>Yo fui mi peor abismo<\/em>, a solo exhibition by Cuban artist Jes\u00fas Lara Sotelo that offers a retrospective journey through his 36-year creative career.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition features a carefully curated selection of works across multiple media \u2014 painting, sculpture, installation, ceramics, and printmaking \u2014 revealing the profound evolution of an artist who has turned art into a path of personal redemption, existential inquiry, and spiritual healing.<\/p>\n<p>Curated by Maybel Elena Mart\u00ednez and Piter Ortega, the show highlights the confessional, visceral, and transdisciplinary nature of a body of work that serves as both an intimate testimony and a collective mirror.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFew artists have transformed their own biography into such a raw, burning, tangible substance as Jes\u00fas Lara Sotelo,\u201d says Ortega. \u201cHis life has been a crater, and from that crater he has extracted not only lava but also light.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also known for his work as a poet and musician, Lara Sotelo offers here a cartography of the soul \u2014 its fractures, its beauty, its quest. In the artist\u2019s own words:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat you\u2019ll see here is the architecture of that descent: ceramics that whisper, prints that bleed, poems that refuse to surrender, music hanging by a thread. And at the center, not a hero or a martyr, but a body in flames.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition will remain open to the public through September. Among the related events is the literary colloquium <em>El ojo que sangra luz<\/em> on Thursday, July 24 at 11:00 a.m., where the aphorism collection of the same name will be presented by art critic and curator Nelson Herrera Ysla. Additional works by Lara Sotelo will be discussed by professor, poet, and critic Virgilio L\u00f3pez Lemus and by editor, poet, and writer Alberto Marrero.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, August 31, the first launch of Lara Sotelo\u2019s musical project <em>La sinfon\u00eda de lo eterno<\/em> will take place, featuring commentary by musicologist and researcher Camila L\u00f3pez, who will present a retrospective of the artist\u2019s latest albums and singles \u2014 a compelling fusion of art, poetry, and contemporary rhythms.<\/p>\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
