The installation titled \u00abAve Mar\u00eda\u00bb by Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Toirac, the 2018 National Visual Arts Award laureate, and researcher Meira Marrero will be on display starting this Friday in the lobby of the Cuban Art Building at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana.<\/p>\n
This exhibition features 55 representations of Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre from various periods. The pieces were acquired both in Cuba and in five U.S. cities where the Cuban community has played a significant historical role, including Tampa and New York, as reported in a press release by Radio Enciclopedia.<\/p>\n
The installation is part of the collection of the National Council of Visual Arts and is supported by the Brownstone Foundation. Originally created in 2013, \u00abAve Mar\u00eda\u00bb was also showcased in \u00abEl culto de los cubanos,\u00bb a solo exhibition that Toirac recently held at the Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed Memorial in Havana.<\/p>\n
The exhibition will be on view\u00a0in the Cuban Art Building until September 21.<\/p>\n
