{"id":4424,"date":"2025-09-22T08:17:34","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T12:17:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/?p=4424"},"modified":"2025-09-22T12:04:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T16:04:10","slug":"coming-soon-habaneras-festival-of-catalonia-in-vila-seca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/coming-soon-habaneras-festival-of-catalonia-in-vila-seca-22092025\/","title":{"rendered":"Coming Soon: Habaneras Festival of Catalonia in Vila-seca"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>I Habanera Day 2025 \u2013 Habaneras Festival of Catalonia<\/strong> will be held on September 28, featuring performances by Cuban and Catalan musicians, as well as a theoretical symposium in the gardens of Vila-seca Castle.<\/p>\n<p>The concerts and the <strong>Cantada de Habaneras<\/strong> will open with Cuban pianist <strong>Cecilio Tieles Ferrer<\/strong>, performing <em><strong>La Felicita<\/strong><\/em> by Ulpiano Estrada and <em><strong>La ni\u00f1a hermosa<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Ayes del alma<\/strong><\/em>, both by his fellow countryman Manuel Saumell.<\/p>\n<p>Next, <em><strong>Habanera de tres divertimentos<\/strong><\/em> by Xavier Montsalvatge will be performed, with <strong>Jordi L\u00f3pez Roig<\/strong> at the piano, followed by <em><strong>La Habanera<\/strong><\/em> by Ernesto Lecuona.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Caelestis Quartet<\/strong> will perform <em><strong>Habanera salada<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Sali\u00f3 de Jamaica<\/strong><\/em>, both by Ricardo Lafuente, as well as <em><strong>All\u00ed en mi Cuba<\/strong><\/em> by Xavier Montsalvatge. Other guest performers, including pianist <strong>Marc Torres<\/strong> and singer <strong>Alba Fortuny<\/strong>, will treat the audience to pieces such as <em><strong>Mi ni\u00f1a<\/strong><\/em> by Garme Guetary (published in 1895), <em><strong>La rubia de los lunares<\/strong><\/em> by Sebasti\u00e1n Yradier, and, from the collection <em><strong>Cinco canciones negras<\/strong><\/em> by Xavier Montsalvatge, <em><strong>Cuba dentro de un piano<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Canci\u00f3n de cuna para dormir un negrito<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>According to <strong>Radio Enciclopedia<\/strong>, musicians from <strong>Habana Vieja Habaneras<\/strong> will perform <em><strong>Al o\u00eddo<\/strong><\/em> by Josep Bastons and Carles Casanovas, <em><strong>All\u00ed en La Habana<\/strong><\/em> by Osvaldo Farr\u00e9s, <em><strong>Madre quiero ser pescador<\/strong><\/em> by Ant\u00f2nia Vil\u00e0s, the internationally renowned <em><strong>Veinte a\u00f1os<\/strong><\/em> by Mar\u00eda Teresa Vera and Guillermina Arambur\u00fa, and <em><strong>Vestida de noche<\/strong><\/em> by C\u00e1stor P\u00e9rez.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, from <strong>Jacaranda Habaneras<\/strong>, the audience will hear <em><strong>Marinero de tierra adentro<\/strong><\/em> by J. Bastons and N. Oliver; <em><strong>Volver\u00e9<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Llora guitarra<\/strong><\/em>, both by J. Llu\u00eds Ortega Monasterio; <em><strong>El capit\u00e1n<\/strong><\/em> by Antoni Mas and Carles Casanovas; <em><strong>Lobo de mar<\/strong><\/em> by Ramon Carreras; and <em><strong>El hechizo de Calella<\/strong><\/em> by J. M. Roglan and Ruth Domingo, among others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Theoretical Symposium<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The conference session will be moderated by <strong>Maica Vidal Rull<\/strong>, President of the <strong>Catalan-Ibero-American Cultural Association (ACC-i)<\/strong>. The first presentation, led by <strong>Dr. Cecilio Tieles Ferrer<\/strong>, Honorary President of the Association, will explore the Catalan presence within the Habanera tradition in Cuba.<\/p>\n<p>Musicologist <strong>Gerard Moreno Sabat\u00e9<\/strong> will then analyze <em><strong>The Habanera in the Music School<\/strong><\/em><em> <strong>as a Multidisciplinary Pedagogical Tool<\/strong><\/em>. Afterwards, <strong>Pere Dom\u00e8nech Santos<\/strong>, patron of the Ernest Morat\u00f3n Habaneras Foundation and ACC-i Habanera board member, will present <em><strong>The Habanera in Catalonia and Spain: Proposals for Consolidation<\/strong><\/em><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The symposium will conclude with a study presented by <strong>Enric Frigola Vi\u00f1as<\/strong>, President of the Ernest Morat\u00f3 Foundation, titled <em><strong>The Goals of the Ernest Morat\u00f3 Habaneras Foundation Thirty Years On<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About ACC-i<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Catalan-Ibero-American Cultural Association (ACC-i)<\/strong>, in collaboration with the Vila-seca Town Hall, is committed to promoting Catalan and Ibero-American popular culture, with a special focus on habaneras.<\/p>\n<p>This partnership has led to numerous regional events. For a decade, it organized the <strong>Habaneras and Boleros Festivals of the Costa Dorada<\/strong> in Vila-seca and La Pinar, featuring Cuban artists. Internationally, the association has honored Catalan composers in Havana and participated in music series in Cuba.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2017, ACC-i has worked with the <strong>International Meetings \u201cDiscovering the Habanera\u201d<\/strong> in Havana. New initiatives include promoting habaneras among children and youth, with projects such as the <strong>Children\u2019s Cantadeta \u201cMarinero de tierra adentro\u201d<\/strong> involving schools from the Conca de Barber\u00e0\u2014a project that has recently been introduced in Cuba.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to these efforts and institutional support, ACC-i will host the <strong>I Habanera Day 2025 \u2013 Habaneras Festival of Catalonia in Vila-seca<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
