{"id":4861,"date":"2026-03-12T15:40:48","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T19:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/?p=4861"},"modified":"2026-03-13T15:42:48","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T19:42:48","slug":"burrerias-returns-to-the-stage-with-teatro-la-proa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/burrerias-returns-to-the-stage-with-teatro-la-proa-12032026\/","title":{"rendered":"Burrer\u00edas Returns to the Stage with Teatro La Proa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Within the framework of the National Theater Program <strong>\u201cMarzo en Escena,\u201d<\/strong> Teatro La Proa will present the play <strong>Burrer\u00edas<\/strong> at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, the 14th, and Sunday, the 15th of this month.<\/p>\n<p>Featuring performances by Arneldy Cejas and Erduyn Maza, the production stages the encounter between two puppeteers as a pretext to tell fables about donkeys, reflecting on love, happiness, and tenderness, and condemning intolerance and the mistreatment of those who are different.<\/p>\n<p>According to a note from Teatro La Proa, the play premiered in Bolivia in 2014 and has remained part of the company\u2019s active repertoire since.<\/p>\n<p>Blanca Felipe served as assistant director in the original cast, which paved the way for the production\u2019s participation in events and festivals in Bolivia, as well as in Cuba, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4863 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/proa-teatro.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"583\" height=\"590\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/proa-teatro.jpg 583w, https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/proa-teatro-296x300.jpg 296w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 583px) 100vw, 583px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Erduyn Maza\u2014who currently serves as the company\u2019s artistic director\u2014incorporated riddles, traditional songs, and texts by Juan Ram\u00f3n Jim\u00e9nez, Ren\u00e9 Fern\u00e1ndez, and Jes\u00fas del Castillo when writing the play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Burrer\u00edas<\/strong> features original music and arrangements by Mayito Guti\u00e9rrez and Aliesky P\u00e9rez, while costume, set, and puppet design, as well as staging, are by Arneldy Cejas.<\/p>\n<p>Isabel Cristina L\u00f3pez Hamze serves as theatrical advisor, while graphic design, illustrations, and photography are by Frida Padr\u00f3n, Antonieta Loaiza, and Alain L\u00e1zaro Guti\u00e9rrez, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In Cuba, the production has toured widely, performing in schools, hospitals, daycare centers, theatrical crusades through mountainous regions, and communities affected by meteorological events.<\/p>\n<p>The show has also traveled seven times to Mexico to take part in festivals and celebrations in the states of Yucat\u00e1n, Campeche, and Puebla, as well as in Mexico City.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, it was included in the program of several venues in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, as a prelude to the International Theater Festival for Children and Youth (FITIJ) 2026.<\/p>\n<p>After this Havana run during the National Theater Program \u201cMarzo en Escena,\u201d Burrer\u00edas will return to Mexico next April to participate in celebrations marking <strong>Children\u2019s Day<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
