{"id":4912,"date":"2026-04-03T08:21:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T12:21:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/?p=4912"},"modified":"2026-04-02T11:24:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T15:24:18","slug":"premieres-and-la-fille-mal-gardee-highlight-ballet-nacional-de-cubas-april-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/premieres-and-la-fille-mal-gardee-highlight-ballet-nacional-de-cubas-april-program-03042026\/","title":{"rendered":"Premieres and La fille mal gard\u00e9e highlight Ballet Nacional de Cuba\u2019s April program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ballet Nacional de Cuba, under the direction of Viengsay Vald\u00e9s, will present three performances at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theatre of Cuba on April 17, 18, and 19, all at 5:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets will go on sale at the theater box office starting Tuesday, April 7, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The program features <em>La fille mal gard\u00e9e<\/em>, in Alicia Alonso\u2019s version based on the original by Jean Dauberval, according to the company\u2019s press department.<\/p>\n<p>The lineup also includes two premieres by Italian choreographer Mauro de Candia: <em>Aria Suspended<\/em> and <em>La morte del cigno<\/em>. Following a successful career as a dancer\u2014during which he performed works by Balanchine, B\u00e9jart, Thoss, Forsythe, Kyli\u00e1n, Ek, Naharin, and Goecke\u2014de Candia devoted himself fully to choreography, a creative pursuit he had begun at a very young age. His works have been staged by companies such as Introdans, the Royal Ballet of Flanders, the Ballet of the Teatro di Torino, the Washington Ballet, the Berlin State Ballet (Staatsballett Berlin), Gauthier Dance, and Danza Contempor\u00e1nea de Cuba. In recognition of his significant contribution to the art of dance in his country, he has received several awards, including the Positano Prize and the Giuliana Penz Prize. In 2009, the Italian state awarded him the Silver Medal.<\/p>\n<p>Other works to be presented that weekend include <em>Mu\u00f1ecos<\/em>, the well-known creation by Alberto M\u00e9ndez; pas de deux from <em>Le Corsaire<\/em> and <em>Excelsior<\/em>; and a piece showcasing the company\u2019s male ensemble, <em>Symphony for Nine Men<\/em>, by James Kelly.<\/p>\n<p>The cast will be led by principal dancers Viengsay Vald\u00e9s, Anette Delgado, \u00c1nyelo Montero, Yankiel V\u00e1zquez, and Ernesto D\u00edaz, alongside other rising talents making their debut in the featured works. Among them are Alianed Moreno, who recently delivered a successful performance in <em>Giselle<\/em>, and Laura Kamila and Alejandro Alderete, both widely applauded in recent performances of <em>Don Quixote<\/em>. These three young dancers will debut in <em>La fille mal gard\u00e9e<\/em>. They will be joined by Nadila Estrada, Carolina Fonseca, Roque Salvador, Carolina Estrada, Marcos Dami\u00e1n, Carlos Lino, Karel Albernas, Carlos L\u00f3pez, and Erick Sol\u00f3rzano, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
