{"id":4990,"date":"2026-05-01T16:25:43","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T20:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/?p=4990"},"modified":"2026-05-01T16:25:43","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T20:25:43","slug":"the-homeland-defends-itself-this-people-is-the-most-admirable-thing-that-the-cuban-revolution-has-to-offer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/the-homeland-defends-itself-this-people-is-the-most-admirable-thing-that-the-cuban-revolution-has-to-offer-01052026\/","title":{"rendered":"The homeland defends itself; this people is the most admirable thing that the Cuban Revolution has to offer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than 500,000 Havana residents gathered this May 1st at the Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed Anti-Imperialist Tribune to celebrate International Workers&#8217; Day, in an event led by Army General Ra\u00fal Castro Ruz and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel Berm\u00fadez, as part of the centennial commemoration of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.<\/p>\n<p>During the ceremony, Yolaidis Hern\u00e1ndez Vald\u00e9s, a specialist from the Chemical Industry Business Group, spoke on behalf of the sector&#8217;s workers to denounce the \u00abintensified economic, commercial, financial, and energy blockade\u00bb imposed by the United States government, exacerbated by the executive order of January 2026. \u00abWe will not stop. We have the responsibility to reinvent ourselves in order to grow,\u00bb she affirmed.<\/p>\n<p>The event was attended by Rebel Army Commander Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Machado Ventura, and members of the Political Bureau: Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee; Major General Jos\u00e9 Amado Ricardo Guerra, Secretary of the Council of Ministers; and Bruno Rodr\u00edguez Parilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs; as well as leaders of mass organizations, the Union of Young Communists, the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, the Revolutionary Armed Forces, and the Ministry of the Interior.<\/p>\n<p>Hern\u00e1ndez Vald\u00e9s emphasized that, despite the daily shortages caused by the blockade, Cuban industry is advancing with innovative projects, financial self-management, and import substitution. \u00abWhen we transform challenges into opportunities, we build our nation, we make revolution,\u00bb he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4992\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4992\" style=\"width: 1023px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4992 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1may-habana-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1023\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1may-habana-1.jpg 1023w, https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1may-habana-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1may-habana-1-768x577.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1may-habana-1-720x540.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1023px) 100vw, 1023px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4992\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Prensa Latina<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He paid tribute to the legacy of the Commander-in-Chief on his centennial: \u201cFidel continues to call upon us to resist and to triumph. In the most difficult circumstances, there has never been, nor will there ever be, an impossible task.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also rejected any characterization of Cuba as a threat: \u201cIs Cuba an unusual and extraordinary threat to anyone? No, a thousand times no.
