The Ballet Nacional de Cuba, under the direction of Viengsay Vald\u00e9s, will present two performances of the classic Giselle on the final weekend of June at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater of Cuba.<\/p>\n
Performances are scheduled for Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, both at 5:00 p.m. local time. Tickets will go on sale at the theater box office beginning Tuesday the 23rd, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n
The company\u2019s press department announced that the opening performance, on Saturday the 27th, will be dedicated to the Cuban Academy of Language in honor of its centennial. The second performance will mark the 185th anniversary of the premiere of Giselle, which took place on June 28, 1841, in Paris.<\/p>\n
Giselle, a signature work of the Romantic era and a staple of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba\u2019s repertory, is Alicia Alonso\u2019s choreography based on the original by Jules Perrot and Jean Coralli, with music by Adolphe Adam and designs by Salvador Fern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n
The Saturday cast will be led by Alianed Moreno as Giselle and \u00c1nyelo Montero as Albrecht. Laura Kamila will debut as the Queen of the Wilis, while Ernesto D\u00edaz will portray Hilari\u00f3n. On Sunday, Anette Delgado will dance the title role, again alongside \u00c1nyelo Montero as Albrecht, with Nadila Estrada as the Queen of the Wilis and Alejandro Alderete as Hilari\u00f3n.<\/p>\n
