{"id":5125,"date":"2026-07-02T06:44:58","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T10:44:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/?p=5125"},"modified":"2026-06-30T11:47:19","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T15:47:19","slug":"performing-arts-take-center-stage-as-summer-season-gets-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioenciclopedia.cu\/cultural-news\/performing-arts-take-center-stage-as-summer-season-gets-underway-02072026\/","title":{"rendered":"Performing Arts Take Center Stage as Summer Season Gets Underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On July 2, the Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed National Library (BNJM) hosted the presentation of <em>Libr\u00ednsula<\/em>, published by Ediciones Bachiller, in the Eliseo Diego Children\u2019s and Young Adults\u2019 Reading Room, officially launching the institution\u2019s summer program for children and young people.<\/p>\n<p>The summer season also got underway at La Rampa cinema with a themed costume party opening the Summer Workshops organized by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC).<\/p>\n<p>On the music front, Mexican composer Luis P\u00e9rez Sabido, Yucat\u00e1n delegate of the Instituto Bolero M\u00e9xico, met with students from the Jazz Band of the National Museum of Music at the Havana-based institution.<\/p>\n<p>The first weekend of July will begin with <em>S\u00e1bado del Libro<\/em> in Old Havana, where the following titles by music historian and writer Jos\u00e9 \u201cPepe\u201d Reyes Fort\u00fan will be available for purchase: <strong>Un siglo de discograf\u00eda cubana<\/strong>, <strong>El Conjunto Casino<\/strong>, and <strong>El arte de Benny Mor\u00e9<\/strong>. The books will be presented by Sonia P\u00e9rez-Cassola, director of the National Museum of Music, followed by a performance by the institution\u2019s orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Fest\u00edn de Verano<\/em>, dedicated to <em>Capit\u00e1n Plin<\/em> on the 45th anniversary of the creation of the character by Jorge Oliver Medina, will be held at La Rampa cinema. Other Saturday attractions include the opening of a bibliographic exhibition of American literature published in Cuba at the BNJM, as well as Jorge Martell\u2019s exhibition <em>De \u00cdcaro a Mat\u00edas P\u00e9rez<\/em> at the El Reino de Este Mundo gallery.<\/p>\n<p>The performing arts will take center stage throughout the weekend with performances by the Argentine company Teatro Puro, presenting <em>Liza y Orson<\/em> under the artistic direction of Pablo Di Felice at Teatro La Proa. Meanwhile, Teatro Utop\u00eda will stage <em>FK, fantas\u00eda sobre Frida Kahlo<\/em>, directed by Reinaldo Le\u00f3n, at El S\u00f3tano.<\/p>\n<p>Translated by Luis E.
