The program will feature Mu\u00f1ecos<\/strong><\/em>, Alberto M\u00e9ndez\u2019s award-winning choreography; Tarde en la siesta<\/strong><\/em>, also by M\u00e9ndez; Ben Stevenson\u2019s End of Time<\/strong><\/em>; Mauro de Candia\u2019s The Dying Swa<\/strong><\/em>n<\/em>; Diana and Acteon<\/em>, based on the original choreography by Marius Petipa; and Canto Vital<\/strong><\/em> by Azari Plisetski.<\/p>\n The performance will pay tribute to the longstanding ties between the Ballet Nacional de Cuba and UNEAC, which date back to the organization\u2019s founding years under the leadership of Nicol\u00e1s Guill\u00e9n. Alicia Alonso, Fernando Alonso, and Alberto Alonso were among UNEAC\u2019s founding artists, and their involvement in numerous activities, events, and initiatives associated with the institution\u2019s development was significant, according to the press release.<\/p>\n Over the years, that relationship has deepened, with leading figures from the Ballet Nacional de Cuba taking on leadership roles within UNEAC at different stages\u2014evidence of a commitment that extended beyond the stage into the country\u2019s professional and cultural life.<\/p>\n One example is provided by first soloists Loipa Ara\u00fajo and Aurora Bosch, who headed teams within UNEAC\u2019s Performing Arts Association, where they helped foster exchanges among creators and advocate for the interests of performing artists.<\/p>\n Likewise, dancers and other members of the company, including current director Viengsay Vald\u00e9s, have served and continue to serve on UNEAC\u2019s National Council and have received major honors, including the Lorna Burdsall and Villanueva Critics\u2019 Awards, as well as the Nicol\u00e1s Guill\u00e9n Diploma.<\/p>\n The celebration also commemorates a shared history of collaboration and commitment.
