Company JJ celebrates its 64th anniversary at the National Theater of Cuba

With a varied program, the Company of Traditional Dances of Cuba JJ will celebrate its 64th anniversary this weekend at the National Theater of Cuba.
Under the direction of Maestro Johannes García, winner of the 2020 National Dance Award, the emblematic group will perform on June 23 and 24 at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, June 25 at 5:00 p.m. in the Covarrubias Hall.
According to the company’s press team, the performances will feature important works from its repertoire that relate to folklore and traditional dances.
The season includes the inauguration of the exhibition El Shangó de Cuba, composed of 20 posters designed by the visual artist Santos Toledo, whose main focus is a journey through six decades of the artistic life of maestro Johannes García.
The inauguration will take place on Friday, June 23, at 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of Covarrubias Hall.
The occasion will pay tribute to two figures of Cuban culture, the maestro Johannes Garcia, on the occasion of his 60 years of artistic activity, and the artist Santos Toledo, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of his artistic life.
The Company of Traditional Dances of Cuba JJ thanks the Ministry of Culture, the National Council of Performing Arts, Santos Toledo, the Artistic Representation Agency Caricatos, the Cultural Department of Plaza de la Revolución and especially its director, Harold Vergara, for their collaboration in this exhibition.
