Musicalísima Beatriz Márquez, un viaje de memorias, at the Fayad Jamís bookshop

The book Musicalísima Beatriz Márquez, un viaje de memorias by Jaime Masó Torres, published by Ediciones Cubanas Artex, will be presented on Thursday 7th September at three o’clock in the afternoon at the Fayad Jamís bookshop.
At this event, the famous singer, winner of the National Music Prize 2015, and the author of the book will talk to journalist and critic Fernando Rodríguez Sosa about this work, which offers an insight into the artistic career of one of the most important voices of Cuban song between the centuries.
Divided into six sections and enriched with a collection of photographs, this work, in the words of Jaime Masó Torres, «is not a biography, nor does it intend to be (…) (they are) «notes» (…), pretexts to enjoy all the talent of an artist who, at the beginning of her career, lost her name to become, spontaneously and with dignity, La Musicalísima.»
In her introduction to the book, the writer and editor Dulce María Sotolongo Carrington states that «the young journalist and lover of our artistic heritage, Jaime Masó Torres (…) offers us a trip down memory lane, I would say much more: to ‘spontaneously’ get to know this wonderful woman…».
Jaime Masó Torres, who graduated in Journalism from the University of Havana in 2014, was born in Bayamo in 1989, is associated with radio and television programmes and collaborates with magazines and digital publications.
Before Musicalísima Beatriz Márquez, un viaje de memorias, Masó Torres published La memoria está ahí in 2020, a collection of interviews with Cuban actors, broadcasters, singers, journalists and filmmakers, among others.
The Fayad Jamís bookshop is located on Obispo 261, entre Cuba y Aguiar, in the historic centre of Havana.
