Jubileo de Letras Cubanas celebrates its first anniversary

The Jubileo de Letras Cubanas publishing house, a monthly literary event, is celebrating its first anniversary at the Fayad Jamís bookshop in Old Havana, and its guest speaker on Wednesday 20 September will be the storyteller Rodolfo Zamora Rielo.
Those who attend the event, which will be hosted by the journalist and critic Fernando Rodríguez Sosa and sponsored by the aforementioned publishing house, will be able to buy the book of short stories Sin monedas para el barquero, in which Zamora forces us to play a game of collisions between reality and imagination, and in which the author threatens to break down the mythical fourth wall of the fictional multiverse, revealing his own version – of his own flesh and produced soul – of the tortuous and alchemical nature of the literary creator, according to the publisher.
The bibliography of this Havana-born writer also includes the books Crónicas de una catástrofe. 17 de mayo de 1890, published by Capitán San Luis in 2015, and the chronicle La consagración del reino, published by Ediciones Extramuros the following year.
Rodolfo Zamora Rielo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature and a Master’s Degree in Historical Sciences from the University of Havana. In his professional career he has worked as an editor, journalist, teacher and has participated as a panelist in the television programme Escriba y lea.
The Jubileo de Letras Cubanas, which began in September 2022, aims to celebrate the birthdays of the authors in the Letras Cubanas catalogue.
In this first year, the following writers have been invited: Roberto Méndez Martínez, Ignacio Díaz González, Mario Naito López, Leymen Pérez, Pedro Pérez Rivero, Mario Brito Fuentes, Rodolfo Alpízar Castillo, Ernesto García Alfonso and Lázaro Castillo.
