Program of didactic meetings on the art of ballet continues (+Photos)

Dr. Miguel Cabrera, historian of the National Ballet of Cuba, founded by the prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso and the brothers Fernando and Alberto Alonso, will give a series of lectures with the participation of outstanding dancers on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the National Ballet of Cuba.
Under the title Un encuentro con la danza, la técnica, la expresión y los estilos, the meeting will take place this Monday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m., in the main auditorium of the University of the Arts of Cuba; and on Tuesday, October 17, at 1:00 p.m., in the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, reports the National Ballet of Cuba.

Two meetings will take place during the month of November. On Wednesday 15, the Havana Provincial School of Physical Education in El Cotorro will hold the first meeting, while the second one will take place at the Juan Manuel Márquez Children’s Hospital on Wednesday 22. The last one will be held on Wednesday, December 13. It will take place at the Empresa Siderúrgica José Martí, popularly known as Antillana de Acero.

The prestigious company, under the direction of Viengsay Valdés, is presenting an extensive program of festivities. Most of the performances will take place in the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theatre of Cuba. Last week’s event was entitled Coréografos cubanos, with works by Alberto Méndez, Pedro Consuegra, Gustavo Herrera, Iván Tenorio and Jorge García.
Two icons will be presented in the Leyendas program this weekend: Bodas de sangre and Carmen. In the meantime, the next one is Tributo a Alicia Alonso, with the first act of Coppelia, the second act of Swan Lake and the third act of Don Quixote.
