Modo Verano is Coming Soon

Summer is a special time when Cuban families look forward to various options for recreation and enjoyment. The Ministry of Culture aims to contribute to the cultural development of the people through proposals that will be available throughout the different moments of the Cuban summer season.

Modo Verano is the slogan that will accompany the hot period from June 29 to August 31, with the community being the main focus, as announced in a press conference. The official opening is scheduled for the last Saturday of June, featuring dance couples and casino wheels in parks and main squares across the country from 10:00 a.m., with the central venue being the beaches of East Havana.

Other highlights during the season include the LX National School Games from July 1 to 15, Children’s Day on the third Sunday of July, the 71st anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, the XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris from July 26 to August 11, International Youth Day celebrations on August 12, the 98th birthday of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, and activities for the 64th anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women on August 23.

The cultural institutions system will organize approximately 125,000 activities across six art forms, with 84 events planned at various levels. Notably, there will be over 37,100 musical performances and stage productions.

Among the standout events are the popular «Arte en La Rampa» Fair organized by the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets, the VI Timbalaye Festival, the V Varadero Josone Festival: Rumba, Jazz, and Son by Egrem, the International Clown Festival in Granma province, the Gibara International Film Festival, and the CirCuba International Festival.

Additionally, several professional groups will tour at the municipal, provincial, and regional levels, including the National Circus of Cuba, the Children’s Theater Company La Colmenita, Cándido Fabré, Haila María Mompié, Arnaldo y su Talismán, Will Campa, and Alexander Abreu with Havana D’Primera.

Across the country, 52 artistic brigades have been formed, comprising professional artists, art students, art instructor professors, members of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), and the Hermanos Saiz Association, as well as the Amateur Artists Movement and cultural promoters. These brigades will perform mainly in rural and mountainous communities in vulnerable situations, nursing homes, senior centers, orphanages, hospitals, and other social institutions.
