Hunter College of New York and Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba Hold Academic Exchange

Students from Hunter College, the largest urban university in the United States, who are training to become dance teachers, will take part in an exchange with professors and students from Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba (LADC).

The program will run from Monday, February 17, to Friday, February 21, at the company’s headquarters in Havana’s Historic Center.

At the request of the prestigious American institution, future dance educators from Hunter College will attend classes taught by LADC instructors. In turn, aligning with their professional training, they will also teach students from LADC’s Children’s and Youth Ballet. The company was founded and is led by Cuban dancer, choreographer, and educator Lizt Alfonso.

Graduates of Hunter College’s Dance Education program, part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system, are certified to teach dance in the city’s elementary and middle schools.

Founded in 1870, Hunter College is located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
