Canvas — Maikel Dinza Releases Aché pa’ mi gente

This Friday, July 3, bassist, composer, producer, and musical director Maikel Dinza released Aché pa’ mi gente across all digital platforms. The six-track EP reaffirms his commitment to the evolution of Cuban popular music from a contemporary perspective, without losing sight of its roots.

Moving between modern son, romantic salsa, and new currents within Cuban music, Aché pa’ mi gente offers a carefully crafted production in which sophisticated arrangements, a strong rhythmic foundation, and a distinctive sonic identity come together to engage both dancers and more discerning listeners.

The EP brings together the previously released singles Lejos de casa, Seguir cantando, Enamorado, and Nada, all issued earlier this year, along with two new tracks: No te conocía and Doble cara. The latter introduces a sound that incorporates elements of eastern charanga through the use of violins, expanding the project’s musical palette and underscoring Dinza’s artistic versatility.

Instrumental richness is one of the defining features of the production. The arrangements explore different brass configurations, ranging from sections of two trumpets and two trombones to line-ups featuring three trombones, achieving a powerful, elegant, and distinctly Cuban sound.

For this project, Maikel Dinza assembled a distinguished group of musicians, including Pombo Arcia (percussion), Oscar O’Reilly, Kevin Peñalver, Yoandy Vera, Jorge Ortega, Eugenio Dinza, Nelson Jerez, and Rubén Rodríguez, whose performances bring identity and energy to each composition.

Aché pa’ mi gente was produced by Palo Duro Producciones, with co-production and art direction by Roxana Rodríguez Vila. Recording, editing, and sound design were handled by Moisés Whiteker, while mixing was carried out by Maikel Dinza and mastering by engineer Christopher L. Yong, ensuring a high sonic standard with international projection.

The release acts as a bridge between Cuban musical tradition and younger generations, where contemporary language coexists with the rich rhythmic and melodic heritage that has made the island’s music a global reference.

With this work, Maikel Dinza continues to build a career that combines innovation with respect for tradition, projecting Cuban music toward new stages and international audiences.
