At UNEAC, Presentation of Habitación con cielo
The Writers’ Association of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), the Nicolás Guillén Foundation, and the Embassy of Spain in Cuba invite the public to the presentation of Habitación con cielo, winner of the 2025 José María de Pereda Literary Prize, awarded by the Government of Cantabria.
This is the first novel by Spanish photographer Héctor Garrido, whose memorable projects include Cuba iluminada, in which he photographed more than 250 prominent figures from Cuba’s arts and cultural scene, and Cuba Indígena, which led to a multidisciplinary research project and offered new perspectives on the long-held belief that Cuba’s Indigenous peoples became extinct.
Garrido is also widely recognized for his aerial photography, and he has collaborated on several films, including Marshland, directed by Alberto Rodríguez, and Sergio & Sergei, by Cuban filmmaker Ernesto Daranas.
The event, scheduled for Friday, September 18, at 10:00 a.m. in UNEAC’s Sala Villena, will feature the acclaimed artist and writer Héctor Garrido, who will take part in a conversation with Cuban journalist Sergio Murguía.
