Acosta Danza Presents Una década en movimiento

Acosta Danza, under the general direction of principal dancer Carlos Acosta, will present the season Una década en movimiento at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater of Cuba on September 5, 6, and 7, as part of celebrations marking its first ten years.
The program features the Cuban premiere of 98 días by Spanish-Venezuelan choreographer Javier de Frutos, a work inspired by the period the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca spent in the Caribbean nation, as well as the premiere of La ecuación, one of the most significant and acclaimed pieces by Cuban choreographer Georges Céspedes, according to Lester Vila, the company’s press director.
The season will also include the restaging of Llamada by Spanish choreographer Goyo Montero and De punta a cabo by Yaday Ponce, based on the original work by Alexis Fernández—a production nominated for the United Kingdom’s prestigious Laurence Olivier Award (2022) for performing arts.
Among the highlights of this anniversary season is the presentation of a fully renewed ensemble, composed entirely of young artists who graduated from the company’s academy, Vila noted.
Since its founding on September 28, 2015, Acosta Danza has aimed to produce dance performances fully aligned with the most current developments in the field, not only in movement but also in all aspects of stagecraft.
The company has established itself as a space for renewal, exploration, and experimentation for Cuban artists, while also opening its doors to creators from around the world, including choreographers, musicians, designers, and visual artists.
