Acto de Fe by José Ángel Toirac to Open at Villa Manuela Gallery

The Villa Manuela Gallery of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) opened its latest exhibition, Acto de fe, this Thursday, featuring the work of renowned Cuban artist José Ángel Toirac (1966), recipient of the 2018 National Visual Arts Award.
The exhibition presents pieces inspired by the writings and anecdotes of José Martí—both his own and those written about him—as a starting point to explore universal themes such as life, love, and death. These enduring concepts have long shaped Toirac’s artistic vision, forging a thoughtful dialogue between art and literature.
Art critic and Villa Manuela Gallery specialist Ana Beatriz Almeida Sánchez writes in the exhibition catalog: “(…) The exhibition is designed to guide viewers on a journey through history. In this context, evoking José Martí’s legacy becomes essential for inspiring hope and unity (…).”
Acto de fe will remain on view from May through July.
