Call for entries opened for the second edition of the Isla Verde International Festival

The Isla Verde International Film and Environment Festival of the Caribbean, founded in 2022 by the Cuban actor, director and visual artist Jorge Perugorría, is calling for entries for its second edition, to be held on the Isle of Youth from 21 to 27 April 2024.

For the first time, the event will be competitive. It will bring together feature and short films with narratives that promote the conservation and protection of the environment and document the active relationship between man and nature.

Isla Verde, an event that will include conferences, workshops, concerts, training sessions, exhibitions, thematic cycles, an entrepreneurship fair and much more, is all about making visible, raising awareness and promoting the development of sustainable solutions through the seventh art.

In collaboration with the Antonio Núñez Jiménez Foundation, Galería Taller Gorría and Four Wives, the festival aims to provide a critical perspective through film on the major environmental challenges facing the Caribbean today, and is born as a vital creative space for the promotion of joint action in the region on environmental issues.

Isla Verde, the main platform of the local development project of the same name, is based in the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, an area in southern Cuba renowned for its protected areas and incredible natural heritage. The call for entries for the second edition of the Caribbean International Film and Environment Festival, which will begin on 16 December 2023, will remain open until 31 January 2024, in the following sections: Best Fiction/Documentary/Animated Feature Film, Best Fiction/Documentary/Animated Short Film and the Special Jury Prize.
