Cancellation of commemorative stamp for 80th anniversary of Alicia Alonso’s Giselle debut

This Thursday, 2 November, exactly eight decades after Alicia Alonso’s debut in the role of Giselle, the Lecuona Hall of the Alicia Alonso Grand Theatre of Havana will host, at 11:00 a.m., a ceremony for the cancellation of the commemorative postage stamp issued by the Ministry of Communications to mark such an important anniversary.
This cultural event, which is free of charge, will be presided over by high-ranking officials from the Ministry and the National Ballet of Cuba. This was announced by Mauricio Abreu, director of press and public relations for the prestigious company.
It will also include a speech by the professor and critic Dr Ismael Albelo Oti. There will also be a film tribute and an exhibition prepared by the Museo de la Danza on aspects of the career of the prima ballerina assoluta in the role of Giselle.
