Celebrations Continue for the 85th Anniversary of Teatro América
The Musical Theater Company Habana joined the series of events currently marking Teatro América’s 85th anniversary.
Written and directed by Alexis Vázquez, the comedy show Se alquila en Centro Habana was presented at the cultural venue and served as a tribute to the company’s 22nd anniversary.
According to Teatro América programmer Janeisi Díaz Serrano, the upcoming days will feature performances by artists from the Tropicana Cabaret, the Cuban Television Ballet, and the Raíces Profundas company.
In statements to Canal Caribe, Díaz Serrano also noted that in March the theater will revive Otoño trans, directed by Raúl de la Rosa, who, in February, also led Juan Gabriel por siempre, another show included in the anniversary program.
The Prodanza Center and the National Folkloric Ensemble of Cuba also promise artistic highlights at the venue, located at calle Galiano número 253 entre Neptuno y Concordia, in the Centro Habana municipality of the capital.
«All of these performances will take place at five in the afternoon, and tickets can be purchased at the theater’s box office from nine in the morning to one in the afternoon and from three in the afternoon until one hour after the performance begins,» the programmer added.
Since its founding on March 29, 1941, the Teatro de Variedades América has been a landmark in the city’s social and cultural life and a meeting place for prominent figures of the arts from Cuba and around the world.
