Cuba to Compete in the Intervision International Music Contest 2025 in Moscow

This coming September, Cuba will participate in the Intervision International Music Contest 2025, which will be held at the Live Arena in Moscow. The island will be represented by singer Zulema Iglesias, who will perform her original song «Guaguancó.» The performance will be under the musical direction of Rodrigo Sosa, the winner of the 2025 Cubadisco Grand Prize, with arrangements by Sosa and Ángel Toirac.
With a career spanning over three decades, the acclaimed singer, vocalist, and instrumentalist will present a piece that blends Cuban musical traditions with her personal story, according to a press release from the Cuban Institute of Music.
Zulema Iglesias is featured in the prestigious rosters of the Miguel Matamoros Music and Entertainment Agency in Santiago de Cuba and Musicuba, a division of Cuba’s national record label, EGREM (Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales). Her music is noted for its fusion of traditional Cuban genres with contemporary influences, showcasing her extensive vocal range. Critics have praised her as an extraordinary artist known for her powerful performances and deep cultural roots.
To date, she has released six albums, including «Solo tú,» which was nominated for the Cubadisco Award in 2024. This album—and its performer—were highlights of the 24th Cuban Cultural Fair «Arte en la Rampa» and were featured in EGREM’s “Disco Fridays” series.
Intervision 2025 will bring together artists from over 20 countries, with notable participation from BRICS nations, as well as countries from Latin America and the Middle East. The event promotes mutual respect for traditions and moral values, celebrating cultural diversity and the national identity of the participating countries.
