Cuban Singer Claudio Rodríguez Wins Award in Europe

Young Cuban performer Claudio Rodríguez won Third Prize in the Best Performance in Spanish Language category at the 2025 edition of the Orfeum Awards, an international music competition based in Spain. The accolade was granted to the popular singer for his rendition of the unreleased track Me Preguntan, written by Nicole Ferran, with music by maestro Germán Nogueira, who also handled the arrangements and overall production.

In this edition, fellow Cuban artists were also recognized: Vocal Universo took first prize; Alfonso Llorens placed second in the Best Performance in Spanish Language (Hispanic American Artist) category; and Germán Nogueira was likewise honored.

Rodríguez—known for songs such as Siempre Estaré, Tu Romeo, Tatuado en Mi Alma, Amorcito Mío, and his most recent hit Este Bolero—expressed his gratitude and satisfaction on social media for the distinction.

The jury presented awards in a dozen categories, some subdivided into adult, junior, Spanish-language version, original song in Spanish, and Spanish-language music video. Participants included artists from the Czech Republic, Sweden, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Estonia, Cyprus, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Lithuania, among other nations.

The Orfeum Awards, sponsored by the European Music Festivals Organization, serve as a platform for recognizing musical talent across Europe, with special emphasis on the diversity of genres and languages. Prizes and distinctions will be presented soon at the Palacio de Longoria in Madrid.
