Cuba’s National Museum of Fine Arts displays its collections of Mexican Art

The exhibition Cuatrocientos años de arte mexicano en las colecciones del Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes is currently being displayed in the Temporary Hall located on the ground floor of the Universal Art Building.

The exhibition features a valuable collection of paintings, drawings, and engravings from the museum’s Latin American Art and International Contemporary Art collections, arranged in chronological order.

The exhibition showcases works by esteemed 18th-century artists such as José Mariano Hernández, Miguel de Herrera, José de Páez, and José Medina, as well as contemporary works by José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, José David Alfaro Siqueiros, José Luis Cuevas, Manuel Felguérez, and José Guadalupe Posada, among others.

According to the curators, Yanet Berto and Margarita González, «the primary objective of the exhibition is to disseminate Mexican visual art that the museum has acquired at various times, in different forms and from different origins. Additionally, the exhibition seeks to present a discourse that refers to the Mexican nationality of the works».
