Framework Cooperation Agreement Signed by ICS and the New Latin American Cinema Foundation
On Wednesday, the New Latin American Cinema Foundation (FNCL) and the Institute of Information and Social Communication (ICS) signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement to strengthen ties that support the development of academic, research, production, dissemination, and innovation projects and activities.
The agreement was signed by Ilys Grethel Cabrera Hernández, Director of Heritage at ICS, and Alberto Marrero Fernández, General Director of FNCL.
The purpose of the agreement is to foster collaboration between the Institute and the Foundation in all areas of shared interest, aiming to fulfill their respective institutional objectives through concrete activities and projects. These initiatives will be formally established through subsequent specific agreements.
Both institutions have committed to cooperating in research, teaching, production, and dissemination, with a particular focus on developing and implementing academic exchange programs, researching and recognizing the legacy of Latin American cinema, and producing and publishing materials that contribute to the comprehensive training of new generations of filmmakers and researchers.
The agreement also envisions projects to enhance the circulation, distribution, and dissemination of Latin American cinema through new media, promote regional integration in film and audiovisual education with an emphasis on intercultural practices, and facilitate the exchange of educators and managers to share teaching and management expertise.
The joint organization of national and international events to promote best practices, disseminate Latin American and global heritage, and establish preservation strategies is also included, along with the International Workshop «Opportunities and Challenges of Audiovisual Media in the Regional Context,» held within the framework of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema.
The agreement takes effect immediately upon signing and will remain in force for three years from the date of execution, with the possibility of renewal under the same terms and conditions by mutual consent.
Additionally, both parties commit to respecting intellectual property rights arising from this agreement, ensuring each party’s participation and protecting their interests in strict compliance with the relevant legislation.
