Giselle at the National Theater of Cuba

The National Ballet of Cuba, under the direction of Viengsay Valdés, will present six performances of Giselle from March 22 to 30 in the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater of Cuba.
Giselle is a choreography by Alicia Alonso based on the original work by Perrot and Coralli, featuring music by Adolphe Adam and designs by Salvador Fernández. The Symphony Orchestra of the Alicia Alonso Great Theater of Havana will be conducted by Maestro Yhovani Duarte, as reported by Mauricio Abreu, Head of Press and Publicity for the emblematic company.
On the 22nd, Chavela Riera will take on the titular role of Giselle, making her debut in the character. She will be joined by the Russian dancer Semión Chudin, a guest artist and principal figure of the Ballet of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, as Albrecht; the distinguished Cuban dancer Joel Carreño, as Hilarión; and Gabriela Druyet, making her debut as the Queen of the Wilis.
On Saturday the 23rd, Grettel Morejón will portray Giselle, with Yankiel Vázquez making his debut as Albrecht. Ernesto Díaz will assume the role of Hilarión, and Alianed Moreno will play the Queen of the Wilis, debuting in this role.
On Sunday the 24th, Anette Delgado and Dani Hernández will headline as Giselle and Albrecht; Ernesto Díaz will once again embody Hilarión, and Estefanía Hernández will take on the role of the Queen of the Wilis.
The following week, performances will take place from Thursday to Saturday. On the 28th, Grettel Morejón, Yankiel Vázquez, Ernesto Díaz, and Gabriela Druyet will respectively play Giselle, Albrecht, Hilarión, and the Queen of the Wilis.

These performances will commemorate the 175th anniversary of the first representation of Giselle in Cuba in 1849. This piece stands as one of the most important works in the repertoire of the National Ballet of Cuba, recognized as a Cultural Heritage of the Nation.
The performances will take place from Thursday to Saturday at 8:30 p.m., and on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Tickets will be available at the theater box office starting from Tuesday, March 19, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.
