Havana stages celebrate International Actor’s Day

To celebrate International Actor’s Day, various stages in the Cuban capital put on shows by renowned artists and theatre groups over the weekend.
Through the tutelage and encouragement of the Havana Theatre Centre, the shows were targeted at children, teenagers, young adults, and adults.

To mark this worldwide celebration, Feérico Teatro’s Agüé, una leyenda de monte, directed by Susana Marrero, was performed for children’s audiences at the Bertolt Brecht Cultural Complex on Saturday 26 August.
Similarly, Títeres Retablos put on El Ruiseñor at El Arca Teatro – Museo de Títeres, with Christian Medina directing, and the El Arca group staged Historias de nadie y para todos at Teatro La Proa, under the direction of Ruandi Góngora.
For seniors, this weekend the Sala Adolfo Llauradó will host the return of Fátima or el Parque de la Fraternidad, with the actor Ray Cruz in the lead role, who shares the artistic direction of the play with Claudia Zaldívar.
Also, the Sala Tito Junco of the Bertolt Brecht Cultural Complex welcomes the cast of the Teatro de La Luna with the premiere of Mar nuestro, an original play by Alberto Pedro, directed by Raúl Martín, during regular times from Friday to Sunday.

Meanwhile, at the Sala Café Teatro in the previously mentioned Cultural Complex, the Teatro de La Palabra has another reason to celebrate with the centenary performance of Vidas comunes. The play is performed and directed by Osvaldo Manuel Pérez.
Another remarkable figure in Cuban theatre, Verónica Lynn, displayed her virtuosity in the play Frijoles Colorados at the Sala Teatro Paco Alfonso, commonly referred to as El Sótano. Her performance showcased the resilience of a profession that constantly inspires us to live, dream, and create.
